School Year 2016/2017
Here's a few highlights from last year!
The children from the Mrs Hughes' nursery enjoyed a visit to Parkanaur along with their friends from Phoenix nursery unit. They listened to the story of the "Hungry Caterpillar" and then they went on a mini-beast hunt looking for some caterpillars, worms, snails and slugs!
The children also enjoyed their very first packed lunch!
The Primary 1 children enjoyed a visit to Parkanaur in search of the Gruffalo!! They had great fun playing with their friends from Cookstown Primary and Phoenix Integrated School.
Miss Devlin's primary class presented a special assembly for their peers about preparing for Lent. The children received ashes during the assembly.
People Who Help Us
The Nursery children have been learning all about 'people who help us' during the month of February. There was lots of excitement today when Martha's mummy came to visit us. She is a radiographer and she taught us all about how she helps people in the hospital. Thank you so much Mrs McAleer!
The Big Bedtime Read
The children in the nursery enjoyed coming to school in their pyjamas for a bedtime story and some delicious hot chocolate! It was a lovely evening with parents and children and was rounded off with each child receiving their very first book bag! The children were so excited to get "homework" just like their big brothers and sisters!
Winter Fun in the Nursery
We didn't get much snow in Cookstown but we were sure to make the most of what did fall!
Take a look at the photographs below...we think you will agree that our children in Primary 1 are very busy...active minds and active bodies!
Creating Magical Fairies
January Fun in Primary 2!
Cancer Focus Visitors
The Nursery children learned lots about healthy eating!
The Big Bedtime Read Information Session
Exploring Machines...how do they work?
Numeracy in Primary 1
The children in Primary 1 have been busy with lots of practical numeracy activities. There have been lots of opportunity to develop sorting, ordering, touch counting, comparing and exploring position and direction.
The Mc Cord Project
Through the Mc Cord Project, the children in Primary 1 have been given the opportunity to work alongside a real artist to develop their creative experiences. Each of the four classes have been following their own interests throughout their class project which has inevitably helped to motivate and inspire these little learners. Take a look at the photographs below and you will be truly inspired too as you observe the children working collaboratively, thinking creatively, investigating and problem solving.
