The nursery children loved their visit to the fire station. Annie's daddy Connor and Cillian's daddy Manus are fire fighters and they took some time out of their busy day to show us around the fire station. Annie's daddy dressed up in his uniform and explained to the children why he needs to wear his big yellow helmet and breathing mask. Manus explained that the fire fighters help each other to put on their masks and their breathing apparatus. This is called the buddy system.
The fire fighters showed the children the hose and the special machine for rescuing people trapped in cars.
The children enjoyed climbing inside the fire engine and sitting up high, both in the front and in the back.
The children had great fun squirting water from the big hose.
A great big thank you to Connor and Manus for such a lovely morning!
