Safer Internet Day
Tuesday 5th February was Safer Internet Day.
This year’s them was ‘Together for a Better Internet’. The children in Holy Trinity PS supported Safer Internet Day by taking part in different online safety learning activities.
Zap and Zoom
Children were given the opportunity to watch a video about Zap and Zoom. The video taught them the importance of being careful about what you might click on or accept when playing a game online. Zap and Zoom taught them about in app purchases or friend requests from strangers and how it’s important to always ask an adult for help if something pops up on screen.
Smartie the Penguin
P2 children used the story of Smartie the Penguin to learn some smart online safety rules. Smartie got a new tablet for his birthday but some things kept popping up on screen.
Smartie the Penguin says, “Before you tap and click, you need to stop and think, and TELL someone!”
Lee and Kim
The children also watched a video about Lee and Kim’s magic adventure into the online gaming world. They realised that characters on screen are actually real people and strangers. Sid came along to help and teach them some Top Tips.
